Inmates brawling send EOCI in Pendleton into lockdown

PENDLETON — Inmates brawling Friday, May 17, has prompted a lockdown of the state prison in Pendleton.
Approximately 30 inmates at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution were involved in a brawl in the yard, according to Jennifer Black, assistant director of communications for the Oregon Department of Corrections.
Due to the lockdown, EOCI administration has canceled visitations for May 18.
EOCI will transfer the inmates involved in the fight to the disciplinary segregation to await an investigation.
DOC also reported one inmate was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
