Beautify the river and get a free tree

PENDLETON — Help make the Umatilla River a nicer place! On Saturday, April 27, drop by Roy Raley Park from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for the Spring River Cleanup and Tree Giveaway. A kiosk at the park will be giving out free tree seedlings and native plants, courtesy of Pendleton’s Tree Commission and the U.S. Forest Service. Then spend a couple hours helping other volunteers clean up along the River Walk. The Stewards of the Umatilla River Environment (SURE) will provide free gloves and trash bags. Adams Day gets Little League season started

ADAMS — The annual Adams Day celebration on Saturday, April 20, starts off in the Friendship Center with a firefighters biscuits and gravy fundraiser breakfast from 7-10 a.m. Then a parade makes its way down Main Street at 9 a.m. headed for Loiland Field, where Little League games begin at 10 a.m. and continue all day. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. the library will host a books and bake goods sale. There will be vendors in the gym and food carts set up in City Park, as well as yard sales throughout town. Save the date for skatepark grand opening

HERMISTON — Opening day of the Hermiston Skatepark is finally set for Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. Join local enthusiasts for Skatefest, an action-packed day at the newest attraction, located on S. First Street, next to McKenzie Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony kicks things off, followed by skate demos and competitions, with a chance to win prizes. Drop your discards at the Community Clean-up

UMATILLA — This year’s Community Clean-up and Yard Sale is slated for Saturday, April 20, starting at 8 a.m. Register online at www.umatilla-city.org/parksrec or call 541-922-3226, x113 to schedule a curbside pick-up of unwanted items or garbage on April 18 & 19. You must bag or boxes your discards; loose objects will be ignored. Drop-offs are accepted April 20 at Village Square Park, which will also host the Community Yard Sale that day until noon. Residents may sign-up in advance for a table to sell their items. Registration closes April 12.

Cinco De Mayo moves to EOTEC

HERMISTON — Celebrate the 5th of May in a new location: the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center, 1705 East Airport Road. On Sunday, May 5, beginning at noon, enjoy live music and entertainment, food vendors, free resources for families and activities for kids. Mustangers set their play day schedule

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Mustangers have announced the dates for their Spring Play Day Series, which will be held Sundays at 10 a.m., from April 7 through May 5.
