Moms and sons, save the date
PENDLETON — Tickets are now on sale for the Mother Son Digital Disco, scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 5-8 p.m.
at the Rec Center. This year’s theme is video games, so you have plenty of time to start working on your costumes. Expect lots of game-related activities, geared for boys 5 to 14 and their moms. Tickets are $25 per person. Contact Pendleton Parks & Recreation for more information at 541-276-8100.
Easter egg hunting season opens soon
HERMISTON and UMATILLA — Hermiston is planning its annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, March 29, starting
at 8 p.m. Kids age 10 and under should bring their flashlights and a basket to Butte Park for this popular event. Parents are welcome, but let the littles do the hunting. Umatilla’s event starts a little earlier, at 7 p.m. sharp in Marina Park. Age groups from 17 and under will be released every 20 minutes. Kids’ activities are provided while they wait for the egg hunt to begin.

What exactly is a tetrahedal kite?
UMATILLA — Shaped like a pyramid, a tetrahedal kite is fun to look at and more fun to fly. Now youngsters 12 and older (or 8 to 11 with a parent) can build their own at a one-night class, set for Tuesday, March 26, at 6 p.m. in Umatilla City Hall, 700 Sixth St. This project should be a good lesson in engineering, math and flight dynamics. The class fee of $15 per kite covers all the materials needed. To sign up, call 541-922-3226, ext. 121.
Let your kids get artsy and crafty
HERMISTON — The Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department is rolling out Creative Kids Arts & Crafts classes this spring. Children 7 through 11 can explore a variety of artistic techniques, including acrylic and watercolor, string art, paper crafts, holiday/seasonal art, chalk art, and more. Beginning March 5, Classes are each Tuesday through May from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Hermiston Community Center, 415 S. Highway 395. It’s a great opportunity for children to discover the joy of art.

PENDLETON — Pendleton Aquatic Center is now offering 2024 season pool passes at a 20% discount through March 31. The early bird rate is $50 and passes are good for all ages. The season opens on June 8, with daily hours from noon to 8 p.m.
