Turkey Trot events in Pendleton, Hermiston

UMATILLA COUNTY — Before you gobble up Thanksgiving dinner, join the Turkey Trot in Pendleton or Hermiston. Event sponsors are Pendleton’s Club 24 and the Hermiston Athletic Club.

Proceeds from both events will help support Made to Thrive, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to at-risk youths in Umatilla and Morrow counties. They provide mentoring and support to assist youths in participating in sports, adventure activities, music, dance and the arts.

Both events are Thursday, Nov. 23 — Thanksgiving Day — and begin at 9 a.m. They are non-competitive and will not be timed. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome at both races. Additional details about each event:

• PENDLETON: Registration and check-in starts at 8 a.m. in front of Club 24, 1845 Westgate. It features both a 5K and 10K route along the Pendleton River Parkway. Preregister via rebrand.ly/us730tc by Monday, Nov. 13 for a free shirt — $20 for ages 13 and older. Youth trotters are $15 (no shirt).

Early shirt pickup is Nov. 21-22, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Club 24. For questions, email jamie@club24fit.com.

• HERMISTON: A 5K race, it begins on the Oxbow Trail at 1311 W. Elm Ave. Extension. Register via bit.ly/49bzKud by Friday, Nov. 10 for an event T-shirt and discount — ages 12 and older are $20; and youths 6-11 are $15. It’s free for children 5 and younger. Late registration includes an additional $5 and no shirt.

Race bibs and shirts can be picked up Nov. 20-22 at the HAC, 80903 N. Highway 395, or on race day at the trailhead. For questions, call 541-256-2995.
