WALLA WALLLA — Two male juveniles were arrested Sept. 28, after allegedly stealing alcohol and assaulting a gas station clerk the night before, according to a Walla Walla Police Department news release.

Police said the alleged offenses occurred over two incidents at a Shell gas station and food mart at 2112 Isaacs Ave. and a Chevron station at 1916 Isaacs Ave.

First, the suspects arrived at the Shell station about 11:20 p.m. Sept. 27. While one paid for an item, the other allegedly grabbed alcohol and ran from the store. Both suspects fled the scene.

About midnight, they both reportedly entered the Chevron station and attempted to try to steal again, but were confronted by the store clerk, according to the news release.

Police said the encounter led to a physical confrontation during which the two suspects assaulted the clerk. One of the suspects is accused of displaying a knife and threatening to kill the clerk. The clerk suffered minor injuries, according to the release.

Police identified the suspects from video footage and arrested both the afternoon of Sept. 28.

The suspects were booked at the Juvenile Justice Center in Walla Walla. Formal charges in Walla Walla County juvenile court were not available as of publication.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
