Ordination ceremony welcomes new pastor

MILTON-FREEWATER — Pastor Steve Lyons will officiate the ordination ceremony of Daniel Donohue on Sunday, Aug. 20, 6 p.m. at the Milton-Freewater First Christian Church, 518 S. Main St. A meet-and-greet will follow.
Donohue, who grew up in Portland, worked as a finish carpenter as well as a deckhand prior to entering the ministry. He attended Portland Community College, Calvary Chapel School of Ministry, Calvary Chapel Bible College and Southern California Seminary. Donohue previously served as an associate pastor at La Center Church in La Center, Washington.

He met his wife, Joy Warne Donohue, while attending Calvary Chapel Bible College. She is the daughter of Judy and Stacey Warne, of Milton-Freewater. The couple has two sons, Ryker, 3, and Hudson, 22 months.
Lyons, who began serving the church in 2009, will retire after his final sermon at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27. As the church’s new senior pastor, Donohue will give his inaugural sermon on Sunday, Sept. 3.
