Stanfield’s festivities take place in Bard Park, starting with a parade at 10 a.m., a duck race at 12:30 p.m. and other activities all day, ending with fireworks at dusk.

New skatepark breaks ground

HERMISTON — Last month, Hermiston Parks & Rec launched construction on a new Teen Adventure Park, a 7,500-square-foot skatepark for older youth, designed by California Skateparks. The park will include a mix of street skating elements (curbs, rails, stairs and ledges) and transition features (bowls, quarter pipes and ramps). HP&R hopes to create a space for skateboarders to hone their skills, and host classes and regional contests. The Adventure Park is being built near McKenzie Park and expects to open in the fall.
