PENDLETON — Pendleton Hodgen U18 opened play at the Ashlee Hodgen Memorial Tournament on Friday, June 9, splitting its games at Bob White Field with Barley Brown Brewers of Baker City, and Legacy Legends of La Grande.

After dropping its first game to Legacy Legends 6-3, Pendleton rallied to beat the Brewers 3-1 behind a solid performance on the mound by Kasen Heinrich.

Heinrich pitched six innings with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Pendleton scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning. Jace Otteson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Colson Primus put another run across with a double to center field. Tyler Hall finished the scoring, driving in Primus with a single to right field.

Baker scored its only run in the top of the sixth inning.

Primus went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Heinrich went 2-for-3 with a double.

Against La Grande, Pendleton fell behind 6-0 before it put runs on the board.

Pendleton scored one run in the fourth as Heinrich drove in Owen Clark with a single to right field.

Otteson drove in two runs in the fifth with a single to right field, but that would be all La Grande would allow.

Hayden Dodge and Sean Roggiero shared time on the mound for Pendleton, combining for 10 strikeouts.

Sam Tsiatos picked up the win for La Grade, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out eight.

All proceeds from the tournament, which runs through Sunday, goes to fund the Ashlee Hodgen Memorial Scholarship. Admission is $5 per person for each day.
