PENDLETON — The latest winter storm has traffic stopped on Interstate 84 in Eastern Oregon.

The Oregon Department of Transportation has reported eastbound and westbound lanes are closed between milepost 216 near Pendleton and milepost 265 near La Grande due to numerous vehicle crashes, spun out semis and freezing rain.

I-84 westbound also is closed to all truck traffic between Ontario and Baker City due to limited safe truck parking for the closure further north.

ODOT reported Highway 204 and Highway 245 are not viable alternate routes and also are closed, but some local traffic may be allowed on these highways.

Drivers can expect extended delays, at least a few hours long, and need to watch for emergency responders on the road.
