PENDLETON — The Pendleton Chamber of Commerce is looking to renovate and expand its building at 501 S. Main St. in Pendleton.

The plans for the renovation and expansion were in motion in 2018, before CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Cheri Rosenberg began her tenure.

“The building was done in 1995, and has, to my knowledge, had very little updates,” she said. “With the amount of visitors we have yearly, and the need for a resource center in which folks can get help with resumes, job listings and that sort of thing. Plus we’d like to add a space members can use to do workshops, staff training or any number of things.”

The original plans for the renovation and expansion were changed by the Pendleton Historical Society due to incompatibility with rules of Pendleton’s historical district and thus invalidated those original plans.

“At this time we are looking at taking a tiered approach, to modernize the current footprint and then expand as funding becomes available,” Rosenberg said.

No plans have been submitted to the Pendleton planning department yet, leaving the immediate future development of the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce unclear.
