SALEM — The Oregon Health Authority on Friday reported five COVID-19 deaths and 433 coronavirus cases.

Oregon is now averaging fewer than 400 cases a day for the first time since early April. While Oregon has cut its spring peak in half, the state remains stubbornly high compared to the rest of the nation.

Only seven states have identified more cases per capita in the past week, according to New York Times data.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 30,898 newly administered doses, which includes 16,334 Thursday and the remainder from previous days.

Where the new cases are by county: Baker (2), Benton (1), Clackamas (53), Clatsop (3), Columbia (8), Coos (2), Crook (2), Curry (1), Deschutes (40), Douglas (26), Gilliam (1), Harney (6), Hood River (1), Jackson (14), Jefferson (9), Josephine (6), Klamath (14), Lane (21), Linn (21), Malheur (6), Marion (45), Morrow (1), Multnomah (66), Polk (13), Tillamook (1), Umatilla (16), Union (3), Wasco (4), Washington (40) and Yamhill (7).

Who died: Oregon’s 2,661st death linked to COVID-19 is a 68-year-old Josephine County woman who tested positive May 4 and died May 26 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

The 2,662nd fatality is a 78-year-old Marion County woman who tested positive May 7 and died May 26 at Salem Hospital.

Oregon’s 2,663rd death is an 86-year-old Washington County woman who tested positive May 11 and died May 17 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.

The 2,664th fatality is a 50-year-old Multnomah County man who tested positive May 11 and died May 24 at Providence Portland Medical Center.

Oregon’s 2,665th death is a 62-year-old Multnomah County woman who tested positive May 9 and died May 27 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Each person had underlying health conditions or state officials were determining if each had underlying conditions.

Hospitalizations: 260 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, up four from Thursday. That includes 59 people in intensive care, down nine from Thursday.

Since it began: Oregon has reported 200,632 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,665 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 3,898,044 vaccine doses administered, fully vaccinating 1,811,098 people and partially vaccinating 407,145 people.
