Housing council announces contest

SALEM — The Fair Housing Council of Oregon is accepting entries for their 23rd Annual Fair Housing Poster Contest. The theme is “It’s fun having all kinds of neighbors.”

Oregon students in first through eighth grades are eligible to participate by designing a poster that exhibits the importance of diversity in neighborhoods, according to a news release.

Winners will receive cash prizes and their artwork with be displayed throughout Oregon.

“Participation in this year’s poster contest educates our youth on how fair housing laws protect all Oregonians against illegal housing discrimination by promoting equitable access to housing and economic choices,” the release stated.

Posters must be horizontally oriented on an 8.5 inch x11 inch sheet of white paper or poster board to qualify.

All entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 12. They can be mailed to the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, 6229 S.E. 41st Ave., Portland, OR 97202. For more information, visit fhco.org/index.php/news/poster-competition.
