PENDLETON — Jacob Lee has been named the recipient of the 2020 David Jon Lindberg Memorial Scholarship. Lee, a graduating Pendleton High School senior, intends to use the $2,500 scholarship at Oregon State University-Cascades, in Bend, where he plans to major in natural resources and forestry.

Lee is working toward becoming an aerial firefighter and participated for two years in the Outlaw Aviation program at Sisters High School, flying and studying. Lee initiated a remote control plane club at Sisters High School and, now returned to Pendleton, is putting in flight hours at the Pendleton Airport for his private pilot license. Lee is involved in numerous school and community activities and has worked for the Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center (CBARC).

Lee is the son of Eleanor and Patrick Struthers of Pendleton.

This is the 41st anniversary of the scholarship, which honors the memory of David Jon Lindberg. It was established by the people of Pendleton as a tribute to him. It is awarded each year to an outstanding Pendleton High School graduate whose career embodies the standards Lindberg set: commitment to citizenship, scholarship and family. The scholarship funds are managed by the Pendleton Foundation Trust.
