PENDLETON — After being closed since March 20 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Salvation Army’s reopened its Pendleton thrift story Tuesday.

The Salvation Army is following Phase 1 reopening guidelines provided by the State of Oregon for retail stores and extra sanitary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of employees and shoppers.

“The Salvation Army in Pendleton is committed to keeping our customers and community safe,” said Maj. DeWayne Halstad, corps officer for The Salvation Army in Pendleton. 

Donations to the thrift store, which is loctaed at 1805 SW Court Ave., will be accepted outside only and pickup services will resume.

Halstad said hot meals continue to be available Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center, 150 SE Emigrant Ave. 

Since March 14, The Salvation Army across Oregon has provided 52,388 meals; 50,644 beverages; 34,971 snacks; 37,416 food boxes; 10,660 sheltered individuals and 22,304 spiritual contacts 22,304.
