Letter | Let’s do the community wave!

Published 5:00 am Wednesday, April 15, 2020

I write to suggest that at 6 p.m. each night everyone joins the Community Wave — we get to a visible place and wave to our neighbors! The Community Wave starts Thursday, April 16 at 6 p.m. — get out somewhere visible, wave to your neighbor and ask how they are!

Coping with measures designed to slow the pandemic is stressing many of us, especially following so closely on the incredibly destructive February floods. Visits to the elderly and disabled are harder to manage as travel is made more difficult. A wave from a neighbor can be both reassuring and an important welfare check as we encounter the predicted spike of infections during the next several weeks, and our communities will be stronger when the restrictions are lifted.

Hope to see my neighbors at the Community Wave! Please respect the rules regarding distance.
