PENDLETON — The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation closed Hamley Steakhouse and Saloon in Pendleton on Sunday until further notice, according to a press release.

Though only four cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Umatilla County so far and no cases have been reported on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the tribes continue to take additional measures to limit its spread.

“It is expected that the virus is more widespread in the community than the case counts indicate,” the release said. “As such, as testing becomes more widely available, the number of positive cases in Oregon will continue to rise.”

The tribes also warned residents about a scam using a GoFundMe site trying to collect money from a tribally owned restaurant and tribal members.
