Roof caves in on former Sherrell Chevrolet building

- Caution tape surrounds the former Sherrell Chevrolet detailing shop on Main Street in Hermiston after the roof collapsed sometime on Thursday night or Friday morning.
The snow and ice claimed a Main Street building as its victim Friday.
The roof collapsed on the former Sherrell Chevrolet detailing shop, located across from the Hermiston Herald offices in Hermiston.

The local car dealership relocated to a new building on Highway 395 in 2014 but still owns the property. Neighbors alerted the dealership to the roof collapse on Friday morning and workers started erecting chainlink fencing around the building about noon.
Kari Christiansen of Sherrell Chevrolet said no one was injured when the building collapsed. It was empty other than a couple of pieces of furniture she had been painting. It will be removed at a later date.
