SafeWise recently announced its third annual 20 Safest Cities in Oregon report, which included several Eastern Oregon towns.

Using the most recent FBI crime data from 2015, cities with a population of 3,000 or more were evaluated based primarily on violent crime and property crimes. The highest ranking local town, which came in fifth, was Umatilla (violent crimes, 2.42 per 1,000 and property crimes, 11.96 per 1,000). Also ranking in the top 10 was Boardman, which placed ninth (violent crimes, 5.96 per 1,000 and property crimes, 14.92 per 1,000). Pendleton placed 16th (violent crimes, 2.48 per 1,000 and property crimes, 22.63 per 1,000)
