A pair of local libraries will host performances of the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company.

The Portland-based theater group will perform Friday at 10 a.m. at the Athena Public Library, 418 E. Main St., and at 1 p.m. at Weston Park, which is hosted by the Weston Public Library. There is no admission charge.

Through interactive games and discovering basic building techniques, audiences will help draw a ground plan while Thia Tweet, the bird architect, and Gerry, the ant contractor from Brooklyn, assist the Ribbles in building a new home for a better world. The performances help kick off summer reading programs at the two libraries.

In addition, professional storyteller Christopher Leebrick will perform Wednesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Athena library. The award-winning entertainer brings the ancient art of storytelling alive as he entertains with a variety of voices while acting out characters. All ages are welcome.

Sponsored by the Oregon College Savings Plan, parents are encouraged to enter their child for an opportunity to win a $529 Oregon College Savings Plan account or add to an existing plan.
