W. Rod Rogers II and Anntoniette R. “Toni” Rogers were married Aug. 6, 1966, at the First Christian Church in Kent, Wash. They are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple met at Northwest Christian University in Eugene. They served in pastoral ministry for 22 years in Indiana, Montana and Washington before returning to Pendleton, where Rod was born and raised, in 1989. They worked at Eastern Oregon Training Center, Rod for 17 years and Toni for 11 years, before they retired.

Currently Rod enjoys volunteering with Dream Catchers Horse Therapy and at the Free Methodist Church, as well as restoring a 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria. Toni also volunteers with the church and for St. Mary’s Outreach, a thrift store and food bank, and at the gift shop at CHI St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton.

The couple’s two children, Gina Mitchell and W. Rod Rogers III and his wife Rebecca, live in Tigard. Rod and Toni also have two grandchildren.
