Pendleton Underground Tours
Beneath the streets of Pendleton, history runs deep.
Pendleton Underground Tours welcomes tourists and locals to travel back in time, discovering the town’s red light district history. The tours begin at the corner of Southwest First Street and Emigrant Avenue. From speakeasies to opium dens, the year-round tours walk you through the dark underbelly of Pendleton’s past, showing a side of the old West you never knew.

Pendleton Woolen Mills and Heritage Museum
The original Pendleton Woolen Mills is still alive and strong, making blankets daily. Its museum displays the personal collection of American Indian artifacts of C.M. “Mort” Bishop Jr., the retired president of the family-owned company who died in 2007.

Pendleton Woolen Mills, 1307 S.E. Court Place, also features an outlet store and free daily tours. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Round-Up. Tours of the mill are conducted mornings and afternoons. Round-Up & Happy Canyon Hall of Fame
The Round-Up & Happy Canyon Hall of Fame at 1114 S.W. Court Ave. introduces its visitors to the history of the Pendleton Round-Up. Learn all about the legendary characters and livestock that took part in the Round-Up through the decades. Discover Round-Up artifacts and history displays, including past Round-Up and Happy Canyon royalty, residents, champions and rodeo livestock.

Heritage Station Museum
The Umatilla County Historical Society’s museum at 108 S.W. Frazer Ave. showcases the region’s heritage. Take a trip through the train depot’s galleries and experience northeast Oregon’s unique blend of tradition and craft. Explore an old train caboose and the one-classroom Byrd School.

Tamastslikt Cultural Institute and Museum Store
Tamastslikt Cultural Institute tells the story of three American Indian tribes: the Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla, who first inhabited the Plateau region of the Pacific Northwest 10,000 years ago.
Tamastslikt (pronounced tah-MUST-slicked) tells the tale with a 14,000-square-foot exhibit space that incorporates artifacts, photography, video and interactive multimedia in an array of world-class exhibits. The Musuem Store sells American Indian arts, crafts and Indian blankets made at the nearby Pendleton Woolen Mills.
Tamastslikt is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Tamastslikt is located near Wildhorse Resort & Casino, four miles east of Pendleton. Take Exit 216 from Interstate 84 then head north on Highway 331; turn right just past the casino and hotel parking lot. Tamastslikt is past the golf course, at the end of the road.

FAMILY FUN
Carnival
Carnival amusement rides will be operating 5 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and operate from noon until midnight the rest of Round-Up week. The rides will be located in the large parking lots near the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce, at the intersection of South Main Street and Emigrant Avenue.
Children’s Rodeo
The Children’s Rodeo offers special-needs children a chance to experience the cowboy and cowgirl way of life for an hour inside the Round-Up Arena.
Approximately 40 children will participate in the rodeo — riding horses and a hand-rocked bull, roping pretend steers, barrel racing on stick ponies and enjoying some good old-fashioned “goat un-tying.”
The Children’s Rodeo starts Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m. and will run for about an hour.
Pendleton Center for the Arts
Housed in Pendleton’s renovated 1916 Carnegie Library building, the Arts Center offers art exhibits, live music, arts education and a gallery for purchasing hand-crafted fine gifts made by regional artists. During Round-Up, the Arts Center is open Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday noon to 4 p.m. (but will close during the Westward Ho! Parade on Friday morning). Admission is free.
The EOCenes will appear LIVE in concert Thursday, Sept. 17 and Friday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. featuring Ron Emmons of Cabbage Hill with special guests. Tickets are $10. Professional Bull Riding
U.S. Bank/Pendleton PBR Classic pits the world’s best cowboys against the fury of some of the meanest bulls around. Get your adrenaline pumping with an evening full of rock music, pyrotechnics and big-screen television replays.
The PBR is held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 and Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Happy Canyon arena. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Call 800-457-6336 for more information.
“Goldie’s Bar at the Canyon”
Following the Happy Canyon Night Show, adults 21 and over can bust a move on the dance floor to live music and gamble, trying their luck against the Happy Canyon dealers. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
“Goldie’s Bar Rockin’ Divas” will also be putting on a dancing show on the bar.
Goldie’s Bar at the Canyon is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m in the Happy Canyon arena.

Dress-Up Parade
The Dress-Up Parade kicks off Round-Up week, and makes its way through downtown Pendleton on Saturday, Sept. 12. The parade includes rodeo courts, horses, floats, marching bands, car clubs, civic organizations and local businesses.
The Dress-Up Parade will begin at 10 a.m. and travels along Court and Dorion avenues. Call the Main Street Cowboys at 541-278-9332 for more information.
Westward Ho! Parade
Journey back to a time before motorized vehicles. The Westward Ho! Parade features early American transportation from mules with a jerk line to oxen-drawn covered wagons, Mormon carts, buggies, surreys and more.
The parade begins its journey through Pendleton on Court and Dorion avenues Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m.
Free Main Street Show
The jolly Main Street Cowboys will host the “Greatest Free Show in the West” from noon until midnight during Round-Up week, starting Tuesday, Sept. 15. The show provides lively family entertainment including vendors, live musicians, dancers and assorted entertainers set up at stages on all four blocks of Main Street in downtown Pendleton.
Happy Canyon Night Show
Actors of the Northwest, assemble! The famed Happy Canyon pageant depicts the settling of the American West, beginning with the early Native American way of life. When emigrants travel to the new land seeking a fresh start, the two cultures clash. Full of music, horseback action and a little slapstick humor, the pageant is unforgettable.
The show runs Sept. 16-19 and begins at 7:45 p.m. each night.
Native American Arts and Crafts
Immerse yourself in exquisite jewelry, quill and beadwork, dolls and other items from Northwest and Southwest Native American tribes — plus enjoy Indian fry bread with huckleberry jam.
Roy Raley Memorial Park is the top destination for arts and crafts during Round-Up week. The park is adjacent to the Round-Up Grounds.

The famous cowboy outfitters have been providing leather goods, metalwork and custom saddles (created on site) since 1883. Hamley & Co. store is a top notch destination for western wear, accessories and fine art and is located at 30 S.E. Court Ave.
