Grebs take earn top five finishes

BEND — Pendleton golfers Haley and Shelby Greb each placed in the top five of the Summit Invitational at the Broken Top Golf Club on Monday.
The tournament figures to be a preview of next month’s state championships with the top four teams from last year’s Class 5A championships in attendance along with 6A champs West Linn.

Last year’s 5A state champion Madison Odiorne of Summit paced the competition with a 4-over 76 finish. Haley Greb was third at 10-over 82. Shelby Greb finished in a two-player tie for fifth at 12-over 84 with state runnerup Alyssa Kerry of Summit.
Amanda Elich of West Linn was one stroke off of Odiorne to take second place.
Summit took the team win at its home tournament, completing play 10 strokes below West Linn. The Lions showed their depth, with the school’s second team taking third place in the team competition. Pendleton took fifth place. Hermiston was eighth.
Whitney Bahrns shot a 99 to turn in the third best Buckaroo card.
Hermiston was led by Taunie Brock and Sydney Adams, who shot 101 and 102 respectively.

BEND — Hermiston senior Paden LaCoursiere collected four birdies in a 4-over 75 performance at the Bend Invitational Monday at the Bend Country Club.
Lacoursiere’s card was good enough for a third place finish at the eight-team tournament and paced the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish. Fellow Bulldog senior Keegan Crafton boosted Hermiston with a 10th place finish, shooting 9-over 80. Zac Adams and Jared Thacker turned in identical 13-over 84 scores to complete the team scoring.
Summit upended defending state champion and tournament-host Bend by two strokes to win the team competition. The Lava Bears Max McGee took medalist honors with a one-stroke edge over Summit’s Jack Loberg.
