Clayton Livingston, 53, of Pendleton, Oregon, died Monday October 7, 2013, in Long Creek, Oregon. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the family ranch at the first cattle guard on Keeney Forks Road in Long Creek, Oregon (look for the signs).
Clayton was born the son of Fred and Sharon (Carter) Livingston on February 4, 1960, in Pendleton, Oregon. He was raised in Long Creek and attended elementary school in Monument, and was a member of the graduating class of 1978 from Long Creek High School. Following high school he attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He graduated with a bachelors degree in ag-business in 1986. On September 26, 1992, he was married to Anne French. They lived in Long Creek until moving to Pendleton in 2000. In Long Creek he worked for about 10 years in heavy construction, operating Livingston Construction. He was involved in many construction projects including the wind park in Pendleton. In addition to construction he was involved in ranching his whole life, working his parents ranch and his own acreage in Long Creek.
He was an active member of the Oregon Cattlemans Association, the National Cattlemans Association and the Pendleton Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Pendleton Round-Up Hall of Fame board. He truly enjoyed the ranching lifestyle and was a team roper and calf roper just like his father and son. He really loved attending and supporting his childrens high school rodeos and FFA activities. If he had any questions about anything he would go to those he respected and ask about 500 questions to see if he could improve on a project. He was well known as someone who always did the job right.
He was never afraid to tell those who he loved that he loved them and would say it every day. He was a true friend to many and would do anything for them.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Livingston of Pendleton; a son, Jarred Livingston of Pendleton; twin daughters Julia and Justine Livingston of Pendleton; his mother Sharon Livingston of Long Creek; a sister, Rilla Livingston and her husband Brant Cameron of Coeur dAlene, Idaho, and a brother, Fred John Livingston of Melba, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his father Fred in 1992.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Oregon Cattlemans Association or to the Blue Mountain Community College Rodeo Team Fund in c/o Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
