Team Roping: Colby Lovell (Header) (Madisonville, Texas) and Russell Cardoza (Heeler) (Terrebonne, Ore.)

Cardoza and Lovell capped a triumphant tour through the Pacific Northwest with their first Round-Up titles before heading off to the Wrangler Nationals Finals Rodeo for the third time.

The duo, 26, paired for five rodeo wins in 2012, and pulled off the Pendleton championship with a time of 18.3 seconds on three head. They topped Round 1 with a 5.4, and their 5.8 in the short round was second.

Each roper earned $6,029.91, to which Cardoza added $1,285.02 in tie-down winnings to place second in the all-around.

Lovell, who added three other team roping wins without Cardoza, finished the season in 11th for headers with $118,032.80 after they paired for an eighth-place finish at the WNFR. Cardoza finished the season 14th for heelers with $103,770.57.

The team had yet to reunite through three weeks in July as their early summer schedules saw them competing in different regions.

Cardoza had been teaming with C.R. Wilken on a northern route and had moved only as high as 37th in the heeler standings with $18,775. The duo had a pair of rodeo wins, and Cardoza had already won five all-around titles.

Lovell had also won five all-around titles in his home state of Texas, and had teamed with Martin Lucero and Randall Richards for one team roping win each. He was 18th in the header standings with $33,155.
