A Umatilla County grand jury indicted Lukah Pobzeb Chang for murder, attempted murder and assault. Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said he will charge Chang based on the indictment Wednesday.

Chang, also known as Danny Wu, is the 23-year-old suspect in the Aug. 14, 2012, murder of Amyjane Brandhagen, 19, of Pendleton and the Aug. 9 assault of Karen Lange, 53, also of Pendleton. Pendleton police caught Chang last Wednesday night hiding at the Pendleton Convention Center. He is in the Umatilla County Jail on $10 million bail.

Primus said he brought the case before the grand jury Tuesday, and it returned with an indictment.

Primus said he anticipated the court will want a jail release hearing for Chang. When and if that happens, prosecutors will have to show why Chang should remain behind bars.
