- Ruthe Thorne Hoskinson
Long-time Pendleton resident Ruthe Margaret Denison Thorne Hoskinson passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006, in Salt Lake City. She requested that her ashes be interred with both of her husbands. She rests in Louisville, Kentucky, and has finally made the trip back to Pendleton to be buried with her husband of 45 years, Orvel D. Thorne.
Ruthe married Orvel in 1933, and they had two children, Carol Thorne Holmes and O. David Thorne. She counted their spouses, Larry Holmes and Jan Thorne, as her own children, and they regarded her as their mother. Her grandchildren are Scott and Kim Grasmick, Joe and Amy Holmes, Dan and Jen Holmes, Aaron and Ashlee Pace, and Adam Thorne. Her great-grandchildren are James, Michael, Sophie, Jessica, Ruthe, Hannah, Mara, Dylan and Noah. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters as well as twin great-grandsons, Ryan and Jacob.
She lost her beloved Orvel in 1979, and in 1986, she surprised herself and her family by falling in love again and marrying Elijah Palmer Hoskinson, Hos. He also passed away four years later.
A graveside service will be held at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton Monday, August 13 at 1:30. Please join her family in sharing memories of Ruthe.
