A drug task force has seized nearly $1,000,000 worth of methamphetamine in Vancouver. Tuesday’s bust is believed to be the largest of its kind in Clark County history.

Standing behind a table loaded with plastic bags of meth crystals, Sgt. Shane Gardner of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department said street use has been trending toward heroin, but this is proof that demand for meth hasn’t dried up.

“When you figure the typical consumer will consume the same as a sugar packet at Shari’s, that is a lot of individual doses of methamphetamine,” Gardner said.

And he says it’s definitely not local. Gardner says it’s hard to say whether the drugs came from super labs in California or Mexico, but it’s much more than could be made here.

Investigators called it the work of a Mexican cartel, but declined to say which one.

Two suspects are in custody, Santos Camacho-Cardenas and Hever Zavala-Leon. Police say they believe two other arrests made in May are also connected.
