Mr. Cook was born October 22, 1927, in Twisp, Washington. He was the son of Harvey and Nellie (Pincock) Cook. When Jack was seven years old his father died, so he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Nellie and Art Gillette. He attended schools in Washington. When Jack was 17 years old his family moved to Prineville, Oregon. Then at age 20, Jack moved to Long Creek, Oregon, and began working in the lumber industry.
Jack married the love of his life, Betty Reynolds, on July 2, 1950, in Long Creek, Oregon. The family later moved to Pilot Rock, Oregon, in 1957 where they raised three sons, Wayne, Dennis, and Kenny. Jack had worked as a log truck driver for many years, and had operated Jack Cook Logging from the late 1960s until the mid 1970s. Jack loved his wife dearly, spending the last seven years totally devoted to her care at home, and after she moved to Pendleton he spent every day he could with her, showing his family what love and devotion was all about. Jack loved his family, taking family trips and enjoying gatherings. He also greatly enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #28.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty of Pendleton, sons: Wayne and wife Jeane of Pilot Rock, and Dennis Cook of McNary; a brother, Gordon Cook and wife Mary of Pendleton; a sister, Janet Morris and husband Dallas of Stanfield. Seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Zada, a brother, Harvey, and a son, Kenneth.
