A Baby A-fair to help inform expectant parents in Hermiston

Dozens of topics for expectant parents and parents or grandparents of children newborn to age 5 are featured in the upcoming Baby A-fair.
The free event will include information about breastfeeding, making your own baby food, immunizations, crib safety and more Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St.

Nearly 30 vendors are expected, organizer Glaya Baker said Wednesday.
Im hoping that our community is as excited as our vendors are, she said.
Classes and events include Pets and Kids, Making Your Own Baby Food, Mom & Me Exercise and Initiating Breastfeeding and Staying the Course.
Experts also will cover ongoing information on crib safety updates, car seat safety, bike helmets and fitting, infant and child CPR and first aid. Doctors and healthcare providers will provide information, and a clinic is scheduled for bra fitting for nursing moms.
Children can participate in Planting for the Future, an activity where participants will plant a seed to take home with the help of Master Gardeners.
Scheduled vendors include WIC (Women, Infants and Children), Family Health Associates, Umatilla Morrow Head Start, Advanced Pediatric Dentistry, the Hermiston Public Library, the Childrens Museum of Eastern Oregon, Healthy Communities Coalition, Good Shepherd Education and Wellness, West Umatilla/North Morrow Safe Communities, the Umatilla/Morrow Health Department and Mirasol Family Health Center, as well as Bakers organization, Good Shepherd Lactation Consulting Services.

Theres just going to be lots of fun, interactive stuff for adults and kids, said registered nurse LaRae Claybrook. She will lead a class on breast feeding and the workplace.
Also included will be an exercise area, massage and door prizes.
