St. Anthony staff awards scholarships

PENDLETON The St. Anthony Hospital medical staff awarded six $1,500 scholarships and two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The medical staff consists of doctors, dentists, podiatrists, nurse practitioners and anesthetists who donate funds to encourage the young adults of our area to pursue health care professions and return to our community to serve.
Nicholas Anderson, ?Payton Jordan, Andrew Justice, Patrick McBee, Summer Szumski and Elizabeth Willingham each were awarded $1,500 scholarships. Kodria Haddock and Katelynn Journot each received $500.
Nicholas, the son of Kimball and Kimberly Anderson, is a Pendleton High School graduate. He plans to attend college to become an anesthesiologist.
Payton is the daughter of Kevin and Lori Jordan, and is a PHS graduate. Her desire is to pursue a career as an officer and doctor in the Navy.
Andrew, the son of Donald and Janet Justice, also graduated from PHS. He will enter Gonzaga University and major in engineering, with a minor in bioengineering, in preparation for medical school.
Patrick is the son of Dr. John and Debbie McBee, and is a PHS?graduate. He plans to major in biochemistry at Boston College to prepare for medical school to become a surgeon.
Summer, the daughter of Dr. Frank and Fran Szumski, graduated from PHS. She will attend a four-year college and major in community health or epidemiology, with a minor in Spanish. She then would like to apply to a physician assistant program.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Scott and Anita Willingham and is a Pilot Rock High School graduate. She will attend a college in the medical field and is considering a nursing career.
Kodria, the daughter of Steve and Janet Haddock, is a graduate of Witness Tree Academy Home School in Pilot Rock. She plans to pursue a career as an obstetrics nurse.
Katelynn is the daughter of Jeff and Tanya Hemphill, and is a PHS?graduate. Her goal is to attend school to become a paramedic.
