PENDLETON A Holocaust survivor is coming to Eastern Oregon for a speaking engagement at Sunridge Middle School and a book signing at Armchair Books. Miriam Greenstein recently wrote of her experience in the death camps in her book In the Shadow of Death: A Young Girl’s Survival in the Holocaust.
Greenstein, who resides in Portland, has created artwork based on memories of her experiences during the Holocaust. Students in Sally Sundins art and reading classes at Sunridge wrote to Greenstein after discussing her art in the classroom.
A grant was obtained to bring Greenstein to Pendleton to share her experiences with students. Sundin said parents of students who are interested in attending the presentation need to check in at the office prior to the presentation Thursday at 1 p.m. in the schools gym, 700 S.W. Runnion Ave., Pendleton. Others interested in hearing Greensteins presentation should call the school at 541-276-4560.
Greenstein will sign books Friday from 4-5:30 at Armchair Books, 39 S.W. Dorion Ave., Pendleton. For more information, call 541-276-7323.
