HAINES An free exposition that pays tribute to people that honor the virtues of the horse and what horses bring to the human experience will take place this weekend.

Celebrate the Horse is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at T&T Horsemanship, 15477 Sky Ranch Lane, Haines. To get to Haines, travel east on Interstate 84, take Exit No. 285 and follow the signs about 8 miles.

Among the topics addressed include fundamentals of foot health, equine massage and pain management concerns, evaluating a horses bravery level and preparing for the unexpected. In addition, vendors will be on hand to discuss and sell their wares.

This exposition has grown over the past five years to become an annual spring outing for many sincere aspiring horsemen and women from throughout the Pacific Northwest, said Susan Triplett of T&T Horsemanship.

The event grew out of an idea developed by Alice Trindle, also of T&T Horsemanship, after performing at horse expositions in Idaho, Washington and Montana.

I was always drawn to the fact that we had many wonderful artisans and knowledgeable presenters right here in Eastern Oregon, Trindle said. This expo is our gift back to the community in an effort to bring together aspiring horsemen and women of many disciplines, to become acquainted with the local talent, craftsmanship and knowledge available.

The first 50 people to arrive for the event will receive a free lunch. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day.
