HERMISTON Regency Hermiston, the communitys only skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, plans to begin a remodeling and expansion project in May.

Admissions Director Marlene Prather said the construction will provide 20 private rooms, a large rehabilitation center and easier access to the facility. The main entrance will move to the Orchard Street side.

The facility at 970 W. Juniper Ave. has 40 residents in 35 rooms, including three private rooms. The staff offers 24-hour skilled nursing care with a licensed nurse on shift at all times. All aides are certified nursing assistants.

Professionals provide physical, occupational and speech therapy for in-patients and out-patients.

Our main goal is helping our residents to achieve their highest level of independence prior to returning home, Prather said.
