HERMISTON Scott L. Palmer, 64, of Hermiston died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Boardman. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 485 W. Locust Ave., Hermiston.
Mr. Palmer was born March 12, 1946, in Palo Alto, Calif., to Merle and Irene Ledin Palmer. He was raised and attended schools in California. He joined the Navy in 1963 and served until his honorable discharge in 1967. He married Terry Estrada in 1968 in Reno, Nev.
He worked for the Westinghouse Corporation as a mechanic in California for a time before moving to Milton-Freewater. He reenlisted in the Navy in 1973 and served until his honorable discharge in 1975. He then returned to Milton-Freewater and worked as a mechanic for Iowa Beef Processing. He worked for Portland General Electric for 30 years as a mechanic, and most recently was the maintenance foreman at the Boardman Coal Fire Plant in Boardman.
Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife of 43 years, Terry Palmer of Hermiston; mother Irene Gould of College Place, Wash.; son Ty James Palmer of Selah, Wash.; daughter Leslie Marie Read of Kettle Falls, Wash.; brother Larry Palmer of Federal Way, Wash.; sisters Merleigh Jones of Fresno, Calif., Bonni Palmer of Portland and Debi Kraft of Nampa, Idaho; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Palmer.
