Orthopedic surgeon achieves certification

Dr. J.M. Jeremy Anderson, D.O. has obtained board certification from the American Osteopathic Association upon recommendation of the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
To obtain certification, Anderson was required to pass three sections of exams, written, oral and clinical exams. He performed the written and oral exams before beginning his Hermiston practice.
The clinical exam can be taken only after performing at least 200 major procedures at one place. Anderson took the clinical section of his board exam in June. The board recently notified him that he passed and was awarded board certification, which is valid 10 years. At that time he must take a recertification exam.
Anderson graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 1999. He completed his internship and residency at the Medical Center of Independence, Mo., from 1999-2004.
He served four years as an orthopedic surgeon in U.S. Army before moving to Hermiston with his family. He has been in private practice since 2006.
His practice, Advanced Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute, is in the Good Shepherd Medical Plaza building on the hospital campus. Anderson offers a full service orthopedic office with in-office X-ray and MRI machines. He also recently joined the Eastern Oregon Regional Surgery Center for his outpatient surgeries.
