The East Oregonian is the major newspaper and online news site for Umatilla and Morrow counties in northeastern Oregon. The paper is published in print three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings, except for Christmas Day at 211 S.E. Byers, Pendleton, OR 97801.

How can I buy old copies of the paper?

The East Oregonian sells copies of the paper up to 30 days old at our offices, or by mail.

Most issues of the paper, back to 1875, are available on microfilm at the Pendleton Library and the University of Oregon Library. Our online archives reach back to 2002 and, in some cases, to 1992.

How can I buy a photo that has appeared in the paper?

EastOregonian.com, in conjunction with Fotomoto, sells recent photos by staff photographers and some historical ones. 

Go online to find the photo you’d like, then click the “Buy Now” box under the photo to order.

What other publications are published by EO Media Group?

In addition to East Oregonian, in eastern Oregon the company publishes The Hermiston Herald, La Grande Observer, Baker City HeraldBlue Mountain Eagle and Wallowa County Chieftain. What time should my newspaper arrive at my home?

You should receive your newspaper when your mail is delivered to your home or P.O. Box.

How can I subscribe?

You may either call us at (800) 522-0255 or sign up online. The East Oregonian offers home delivery, mail and online subscriptions. Day and week passes are available online, starting at $1.

How can I conveniently pay for my subscription?

The East Oregonian offers several payment options:

Credit/debit card: Our EZ Pay program is the most convenient method of payment. Your credit or debit card is charged automatically each subscription period of your choice.

Direct debit to checking account: Provide us with a check marked VOID and a signed authorization form, and your checking account will be charged once a month, on your choice of the 7th or 21st of the month.

Pay by mail: You will receive a bill in the mail and may mail your payment in the envelope enclosed with your bill or bring payment to the lobby of the East Oregonian building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

How can I avoid newspapers piling up while I am on vacation?

Phone (800) 522-0255 at least one business day before your departure, and we will stop delivery of your print newspaper while you are on vacation. You will still have online access.

I have a news tip. Whom do I call?

If you see news in the making or have a tip for a story, call us at (800) 522-0255 or (541) 276-2211 and ask for the newsroom. Or, e-mail news@eastoregonian.com.

How can events be publicized in the East Oregonian or at www.eastoregonian.com?

For print publication, mail details of your event to 211 S.E. Byers, Pendleton, OR 97801, e-mail community@eastoregonian.com, or call (541) 966-0818. All items submitted are subject to review and editing; they run as space allows until the date of the event.

Where should I send a press release?

How can I have a letter to the editor published?

Mail your letter to 211 S.E. Byers, Pendleton, OR 97801, or e-mail it to editor@eastoregonian.com with “Letter to the editor” in the subject field.

The East Oregonian welcomes letters for publication on public issues and public policies. The newspaper reserves the right to withhold letters that address concerns about individual services and products or letters that infringe on the rights of private citizens. Submitted letters must be signed by the author and include the city of residence and a daytime phone number. The phone number will not be published. Unsigned letters will not be published.

What is the East Oregonian’s obituary policy?

Basic death notices, including information about services, are published without charge. We publish paid obituaries, which include a small photo and, for veterans, a flag symbol at no charge. Obituaries may be edited for spelling, proper punctuation and style. Funeral homes should send the obituary information to 211 S.E. Byers Ave., Pendleton, OR 97801, or email obits@eastoregonian.com or use this form online to submit an obituary: Submit Obituaries

If you wish to place an obituary with color, larger photos, borders, specific fonts or other special formatting, please contact our advertising department at classifieds@eastoregonian.com or 1-800-962-2819 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to request a quote. All obituaries are posted online and remain in our archives indefinitely.

Classified Advertising

How do I place a classified ad?

To place a classified ad, either go online at our classifieds marketplace anytime or call (800) 962-2819 or fax (541) 278-2680 during business hours. One of our trained classified ad specialists will help you select the best classification and help you word your ad.

How much does it cost to run a classified ad?

The cost for running a classified ad depends on its type, size and the number of times it will appear. Rates are based on the number of words in the ad, plus any additional charges for special features such as bold type, logos and pictures. You can place your ad online at our classifieds marketplace anytime, or call our classified advertising department during business hours at (800) 962-2819 or fax (541) 278-2680 to get exact rates, as well as tips on how to save money on your classifieds.

Do I have to prepay for classified advertising?

All ads placed online have to be prepaid with a Visa or Master Card. Some ads placed through our classified sales representatives can be billed, depending on certain credit requirements. Ads for items such as autos, merchandise and yard sales are all prepaid regardless of how they are placed.

Do you print daily or weekly?

The East Oregonian publishes three times a week in print, Tuesday through Saturday mornings (except Christmas Day) and online every day. Classifieds are updated each day.

If I get my classified ad in today, what’s the soonest it can start?

The deadline to start a classified ad is generally noon the day before.

For classified ads starting on a Sunday, they are due by 1 p.m. Friday.

For the Eastern Oregon Marketplace, which is distributed Tuesday or Wednesday, the deadline is the previous Friday at 1 p.m.

How do I place an ad in the East Oregonian newspaper or online?

Contact us by telephone at (800) 522-0255 or e-mail at ads@eastoregonian.com and we will be happy to assist you in designing an effective multimedia marketing plan. We can also design and place ads for our sister publication and site, The Hermiston Herald.

How much does it cost to advertise?

Retail advertising rates are determined by the size of the ad and the frequency with which it publishes or appears. There are many different pricing package options that provide discounted rates for more frequent advertising, or for combining print and online advertising. Your sales representative will be able to explain all pricing options and suggest what might work best for your specific needs.

Do I have to design my own advertisement?

No. We have a talented staff of graphic designers who can create ads based on your ideas for you to review.
