HERMISTON – Petra G. Torres, 84, of Hermiston died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at her home. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery. Viewing times will held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.

Mrs. Torres was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico to Refugio Gutierrez and Lorenza Cobarruvias. In 1950 she married Antonio Torres in Mexico. She was a homemaker. She was a resident of Hermiston for the past 35 years.

Survivors include sons Martin Torres of Othello, Wash., and Francisco Torres and Luis H. Torres, both of Hermiston; daughters Anna Maria Salmeron of Othello, Wash., Josefina Moreno of Pasco, Wash., and Adelina Munoz of Hermiston; brothers Jose Gutierrez and Salvador Gutierrez, both of Mexico; sisters Rita Gutierrez and Rafaela Gutierrez, both of Mexico, and Clementina Rojas of Rosemead, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Torres, in 1994; daughter Valvina Torres; sons Jose de Jesus Torres and Jose Alejandro Torres; brothers Luis and Guadalupe Gutierrez; and sisters Altagracia and Rosario Gutierrez.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church building fund.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
