PEO announces local winner

HERMISTON – Chapter DR of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) in Hermiston recently announced that Danica Cline has been awarded a $1,400 PEO Oregon Scholarship.

Cline, who graduated from Hermiston High School in 2003, is in her last year of college at the Blue Mountain Community College satellite of Eastern Oregon University. She will graduate with a teaching certificate.

This past year Cline has been working on perfecting lesson plans, observing teaching techniques in the classroom, facilitating small group activities and earning an ESL (English as a second language) endorsement. When she finishes school, Cline plans to apply to substitute her first year and then begin teaching early elementary grades in the classroom.

PEO is an international organization of women whose objective is to see women succeed through education.
