Obituary: Floyd Harvey Slinker

MILTON-FREEWATER – Chesley T. Griswold, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 27 at Regency at the Park in College Place, Washington.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater. Private interment will be in the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. Friends who wish to pay their respects may call at the funeral home Monday from 9 a.m.-noon, 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Television through the funeral home.

Mr. Griswold was born January 6, 1920 in Lebanon, Indiana the son of Otis and Sadie Cochran Griswold, the first of nine children. He worked with his father hanging wallpaper and later worked on a farm for sixteen months before joining the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as a medic with the harbor defenses at the mount of the Columbia River.

On January 6, 1944, he married Olivia Sperling in Pendleton. Olivia preceded him in death on January 28, 1981 and on September 26, 1981 he married Marge Pryhorocki Worley in Walla Walla.

Mr. Griswold was a member of the Umapine Seventh-day Adventist Church where he had served as an Elder, Deacon, receptionist, Sabbath School Teacher and on occasion had preached some services.

He is survived by his wife Marge Griswold at the home, 2 adopted daughters Anita Kachaturian of Mountain Home, Idaho, Connie Bissell of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, 2 step-sons Chris Worley and Gary Worley both of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, 2 sisters Della Moore of Indiana, Marie Partin of Alabama, 3 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Griswold was preceded in death by a step-daughter Jannice Prock, a granddaughter Jennifer Runnels, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
