Road crews and law enforcement officers are reporting extremely icy conditions on Interstate 84 this morning, and the Oregon Department of Transportation advises drivers to use caution if traveling this morning.
At least one rollover accident was reported Friday morning on I-84 at milepost 191 near Stanfield. Oregon State Police and other emergency vehicles were kept busy by a rash of accidents – including a three-car crash on Highway 395 in Hermiston – primarily from vehicles driving too fast for the slick conditions and the dense fog.
The temperature at 8:25 a.m was 30 degrees in both Pendleton and Hermiston and both cities were reporting thick fog in places.
Things should thaw and clear up later. The high temperature in the region is expected to reach the high 40s by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
