PENDLETON – In the January/February edition of True West magazine, Pendleton came in No. 7 among towns that have made important contributions to preserving its past. Cheyenne, Wyo., topped the list.

Gaining mention in the article were the Hamley’s complex – “the cowboy cathedral-looking” steakhouse, coffee and wine shop, Slick Fork Saloon and saddle shop.

The Pendleton Round-Up got a nod for its extensive planning for rodeo grounds enhancements.

Rounding out the top 10 were Virginia City, Mont.; Silver City, N.M.; Florence, Ariz.; Austin, Texas; Deadwood, S.D.; Wickenburg, Ariz.; Virginia, Nev.; and Wichita, Kan.
