OBITUARY: A. Claire Zemaitis

PASCO, Wash. – A. Claire Zemaitis, 88, of Kennewick, Wash., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in Pasco, Wash. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Echo Cemetery.

Mrs. Zemaitis was born May 18, 1920, in The Dalles to Simon and Edna Shaw Shaughnessy. She was raised in Omak, Spokane, and Seattle, Wash. She married Calvin Crill in Seattle, and they moved to Glendale, Calif., where she worked as an accountant. Calvin preceded her in death. She later married Anthony “Tony” Zemaitis and they moved to Kennewick, Wash., in 1989.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Batchelder of Benton City, Wash.; brother Bryan D. Shaughnessy of Kansas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands Calvin Crill and Tony Zemaitis; son Stephen “Skip” Crill; and brothers Lawrence “Tod” Shaughnessy and John “Jack” Shaughnessy.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
