The Oregon Department of Transportation has opened portions of Interstate-84 east of Pendleton. ODOT opened the westbound lanes between La Grande and Pendleton around 8:30 a.m. today.
The freeway remains closed to eastbound travelers between Pendleton and Baker city and closed to westbound travelers between La Grande and Baker City.
Images at www.tripcheck.com from state road cameras show snow and ice covering I-84 as it winds along Cabbage Hill with a few trucks and cars traveling west. The camera near Milepost 239 show a snow covered road without traffic.
High winds, low visibility from blowing snow and hazardous winter conditions prompted the state to close Interstate 84 and other Northeast Oregon highways. Those other closures include:
?Highway 204, the Tollgate Highway, between Weston and Milepost 10.
?Highway 334 between Helix and Athena.
?Highway 237 between Island City and between Union and North Powder.
ODOT, however, has opened Highway 37 and Highway 335 (the Havana – Helix Highway) but there area snow drifts.
Earlier this morning the state closed Highway 11 between Pendleton and the Washington border, but that road is now open.
