Muddy Frogwater arts show names winners

The Harvest Time Fine Arts Show in Milton-Freewater during the Muddy Frogwater Festival attracted approximately 200 visitors viewing 63 articles in the exhibit.

People who made the show succeed included participants, volunteers and supporters. The art show committee consisted of Beverley McRae, Leona Shumway, Louise Piper Johnson, Karen Bright, Barbara Coddington, Blanche Mason, Joan Knowles, Ruth Meyers, Nadine Dougherty and Jean Ann Mitchell. Curtis Walters prepared display boards and Margaret Jamison judged the entries. Christ the King Lutheran Church made space for the show in the church fellowship room.

Other supporters included LaRamada, Hong’s, Shelley’s Last Shot, The Fountain, The Oasis, Applebees, Elmer’s, 3 Divas, Earl Brown & Co. Family Furniture, Shangri-La, Hu’s Nails, Mongolian Grill, Baker Boyer Bank, The Sun Catcher and Dr. Norman Sagger.

Winners received prizes at a reception Aug. 17. Winners in the photography category were Joseph Spoonhower, first; Lori Montgomery, second; and Fran Walker, third. Sculpture/fabrics arts winners included Lee Chase, first; J.C. Berndt, second; and Nancy Kessler, third. Painting winners were Randy Klassen, first; Deborah Brace, second; and Sally Thomason, third.

People’s Choice winners, determined by visitor votes, were T.J. Hutchins, photography; Melvin Wheatley, sculpture/fabrics; and Jean Ann Mitchell, painting.
