A 20-year veteran of the sport, Skelton became the ninth man to pass the $2 million career earning mark at the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, placing in five out of 10 rounds.
He then won six major rodeo titles in 2007, including the All Around at the SandHills Stock Show & Rodeo in Odessa, Texas, and the Round-Up.
It was Skelton’s first steer roping title in Pendleton, though he won the team roping with Speed Williams in 1997.
