Rollo F. Loomis

FOSSIL – Rollo F. Loomis, 90, of Fossil died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the United Methodist Church in Fossil.

Mr. Loomis was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Wasco to Earl and Marvel Wilcox Loomis. The family moved to the Fossil area, where he graduated from high school in 1935.

He worked on different ranches for several years before going to work on his parents’ ranch. He bought and butchered cattle and hogs for the family meat market along with working at the ranch. He also spent time working at Kinzua Pine Mills.

In 1941 he married Georgia Parrish; after some time the couple bought the store in Fossil from his parents, and they operated it until retiring in 1978.

Mr. Loomis is survived by his wife Georgia of Fossil; sons Robert Earl Loomis, Ernie Loomis of Hermiston, and Mike Loomis of Portland; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
