Pendleton householders may  now sleep with both eyes shut for

Sheriff Taylor has the two men who robbed the Casey and Mollala homes

Sunday night and he will bring them back with him from Portland

tomorrow night. This afternoon a message was received at the sheriff’s

office telling of the arrest of the two men by Taylor himself in a

Portland lunch counter at midnight last night. Frank Kennedy and

William Grabin are the names of the two under arrest and they were

found with much of the plunder on them. When taken they had the two

watches and three razors stolen from the Casey house and also the

revolver taken from Mollala’s.

The Blue Mountain Conference at a meeting in La Grande voted to exclude

Mac-Hi from membership in the conference effective next September, when

Mac-Hi becomes an A-2 school, it was announced today by W.D. Barnes,

Baker. “This action largely stemmed as a result of scheduling

difficulties which arose,” said Barnes. “It did not appear possible for

McLoughlin High School to play both an A-2 schedule and a Blue Mountain

Conference schedule and do justice to both leagues.”

Mission’s George St. Denis American Legion Auxiliary received several

gifts from the disbanding Pendleton American Legion chapter Thursday.

Citing lack of membership, the Pendleton group voted to disband in May

and gave up its charter. Mission’s auxiliary received a large American

flag, a bell, U.S. and Legion Auxiliary desk flags, and a gavel that

were used in the Pendleton chapter’s meetings.
