WALLA WALLA – Betty Jean Gunderson, formerly of Milton-Freewater, died Aug. 5, 2007, at Quail Run in Walla Walla. She was 85.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Milton-Freewater. Private inurnment will be held at Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Mrs. Gunderson was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Denver, Colo., to Russell and Pauline Ferguson Myer. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1940.
On June 22, 1941, she married Gary Gunderson in Denver. They moved to Eureka, Mont., in 1947. They then moved to Drummond, Mont., where they owned a Gambles Store. In 1978, they purchased the Gambles Store in Thompson Falls, Mont. They retired in 1978.
In 1983, they moved to Milton-Freewater. Mrs. Gunderson worked as a receptionist for several years. She also volunteered at the Milton-Freewater Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Gunderson enjoyed music and played the organ for Church. She also enjoyed playing bingo and pinochle with her many friends and arranging flowers for the First Christian Church and the Milton-Freewater Garden Club.
She is survived by daughter Susan and husband Randy Dohrmann of Milton-Freewater; son Douglas and wife Connie Gunderson of Thompson Falls, Mont.; brother Robert and wife Mary Myer of Loveland, Colo.; sister Dorothy and husband Byron Kaufman of Camarillo, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Dale Gunderson.
