TODAY

QUILT AUTHOR AND HISTORIAN MARY BYWATER CROSS, 3 p.m. book signing event, and 7 p.m. free program, “Treasures from Eastern Oregon Trunks: Quilts of Migration” at the Pendleton Public Library, 502 S.W. Dorion Ave. The book signing is in the library, the program will be in the community meeting room behind the library on Emigrant Avenue.

PENDLETON FARMERS MARKET, 4-8 p.m. in the 400 block of Main Street. A wide variety of locally grown produce, baked goods, prepared foods, crafts and music.

SATURDAY

TOUR FOR A CURE, 8 a.m. registration; 9 a.m. bike ride starts from Good Shepherd Medical Center parking lot, 610 N.W. 11th St., Hermiston. Event includes a 15K family challenge and a 50K charity bike ride. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Cost for each ride is $30 or 30 sponsors. ST. JOHN’S SECOND ANNUAL PLANT SALE, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 665 E. Gladys Ave., Hermiston. Proceeds are used for church camp scholarships.

BENEFIT BOTTLE AND CAN DRIVE, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Columbia Red Apple, 1411 Sixth Street, Umatilla. Proceeds will go towards medical costs for Mayor David Trott and his wife, Linda’s, 15-month old granddaughter, diagnosed with myelodyspastic syndrome. To help by sorting, collecting or pick up of cans, call Yvette at 922-2116.

WOMEN’S OPEN RANGE, 9 a.m. to noon, on South Ninth Avenue, one mile east of the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Free for women aged 8-80. Firearms, safety glasses, hearing protection and ammunition provided by the East End Rod and Gun Club. CANCELED COUNTRY CHURCH CARNIVAL, rescheduled for June 30. Call Penny at 571-0149 for more information.

PICNIC IN THE PARK, noon to 4 p.m. at McKenzie Park, 320 S. First St., Hermiston. The picnic is the kickoff for Hermiston’s centennial celebration. The event will include entertainment, an ice cream bar and a pie contest. People are to bring their own picnic lunch and non-alcoholic beverages.

PENDLETON RELAY FOR LIFE, 2 p.m. opening ceremonies through 6 a.m. Sunday’s awards ceremony at the Pendleton High School track. Indian tacos will be sold for $5 from 6 p.m. until they’re gone. Luminary Ceremony at 9 p.m. Entertainment. The public is welcome to attend, enjoy the festivities and support the walkers.

CELLO/VIOLIN STUDENT RECITAL, 3 p.m. at the Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St. The recital is free and the public is welcome.

THE DAY THE MUSIC THRIVED, 7 p.m. at Hermiston High School auditorium. Concert is comprised of Elvis, Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and Ann Margret impersonators. Tickets are available at Campbell Toyota, Bert’s Auto Salvage, All Star Realty, Simmons Financial Group, KOHU and KQFM. Admission is $20.

MONDAY

MUSIC IN THE PARKS, 7 p.m. at Boardman Marina Park. Singer/songwriter Tony Graham will perform. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available for purchase by the Tillicum Club. For more information, call 481-2627.

INLAND NORTHWEST CHORALE SUMMER CONCERT REHEARSALS, 7 p.m. at Harris Junior Academy, 3121 S.W. Hailey Ave., Pendleton. No auditions are required and all singers are welcome. THURSDAY

LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR AMBASSADORS WATERMELON WHACK GOLF TOURNAMENT, the golf tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. June 21 at the Umatilla Golf Course, 705 Willamette, Umatilla. Awards and prizes will be held after the tournament, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $40 per person or $160 for teams, which includes green fees, raffle tickets, a box lunch, dinner and two drink tickets. FRIDAY, JUNE 15

CELEBRATE HISTORIC HEPPNER, all day beginning at 10 a.m. at the City Park, 444 N. Main St. Activities will include: 10 a.m. tricycle races for 3-5 year olds; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. chalk drawing for all ages; 10:30 a.m. egg race for 6-10 year olds; 11:30 a.m. hot-dog eating contest for all ages; noon to 2 p.m. dunk tank; 2 p.m. small dog races; 5 p.m. barbecue; 6 p.m. pie auction; and 7 p.m. talent show.
