HERMISTON – The Hermiston Bulldogs dominated the Lewiston (Idaho) Tigers on the girls tennis courts Tuesday, coming up with a 7-1 team victory with no games entering the third set.
The win puts Hermiston’s season record at 9-0, and coach Curt Berger felt it was a solid mid-season outing for the girls.
“It was a good consistent performance for us,” he said. “Our doubles teams got ahead early and didn’t let up.”
Rebecca and Richole Berger handled Kim Fong and Rye Hewett in the No. 1 and 2 spots easily, and the top Hermiston doubles combo of Chelsea Vanderwall and Alison Hammond also pounded out a win over Theresa Kuceara and Marina Wold 6-0, 6-2.
The one loss for Hermiston came in the No. 3 match as Jessy Cawley beat Sarah Eldridge 6-1, 6-1, and Berger explained Cawley is the No. 1 mixed doubles player for Lewiston.
Berger also commented on the play of Alissa Smith, who came back in her second set to win 7-5 after being sick all week.
Hermiston’s next action will be at the Capital Invite this weekend before taking on Pendleton Monday.
